Late Starters Publications
Available through this website are the following two publications:

“Music Engagement at Mid-life on the Guitar” the Late Starters Hand Book
Based on my Masters thesis this text sheds light on distinctive areas affecting late starter learning. This book will help to awaken the musician inside, giving information about new notation, the power of rhythm, how we learn and the distinct benefits of learning. The text addresses other important areas like the development of listening skills and the strain associated with life at 50. The late starter is a curious learner – holding a share of hidden ability waiting to be awakened. With the right assistance these pragmatic learners can make surprising progress – this book centres around themes that I believe are especially important for those 50 and older desiring to learn guitar.

“Late Starters Guitar Method Book 1”
This is a practical book with an accompanying CD of simple riffs and chord progressions. The riffs are a simple means to exercise the left hand fingers prior to embarking on chord playing. When chords are introduced there is an emphasis on the function of each chord and the aural aspects of chord changes. I have written this book because I see the need for new approaches in music education catering for those who have difficulty with pitch or rhythm. Posture and technique are described in detail – many of the riffs are accompanied by a short descriptive passage outlining the movements of both hands.
